Cars in German City Found Marked with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Officers stated they were alerted by a resident who discovered a automobile in Hanau covered with reddish fluid

Approximately 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.

Police state they were notified late on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The substance had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then located numerous other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police say preliminary tests suggest the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.

"There is still no lead as to its origin; investigators are currently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.

City officials stated they were working "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the community for tips.

A high-ranking political figure commented the attack made him stunned and required to be resolved promptly.

"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
